The Good News
Everyone has inside himself a piece of good news! The good news is that you really don’t know how great you can be, how much you can love, what you can accomplish, and what your potential is! —Anne Frank, teenage author (1929-1945)
Every human being is born with an extraordinary set of inner capacities, including intelligence, willpower, mind, imagination, consciousness, creativity, communication, love and emotion. These capacities enable us to make the most of opportunities that are available to us, to make powerful contributions to our families and communities, and to lead magnificent lives.
Unfortunately, most people pass through all their years of schooling without ever learning to make the most of these capacities. As a result, a vast majority of children, teens and adults spend their days harnessing only a fraction of the great potential that is freely available within them.
How might society and our world be improved if millions upon millions of everyday citizens began to tap their true potential?
How might our lives be affected if neighbors, coworkers, friends and family members learned to think clearly, communicate effectively, listen attentively, solve problems creatively, behave compassionately, and give the best of themselves to everyone around?
How would you, your family and community benefit from an educational system in which every child and teen learned to master the inner capacities that shape their lives?
What if the disenfranchised members of society were given free opportunities to harness the transformative power and resource available within themselves? What gifts might they learn to unearth?
Human vitality is a radiant state of being. It arises when our physical, intellectual, emotional, social and other capacities are in peak condition—seamlessly integrated with one another in a holistic balance.
We naturally operate in this state, giving the best of ourselves to everything we do. Unfortunately, certain societal factors tend to inhibit this process. For example, our children are corralled into a system of compulsory education that often leads them astray from the natural development of their innate capacities. As graduates, they rarely recognize what was lost in the process.
Fortunately, our innate capacities can be reawakened and balanced at any age. The User’s Guide LLC seeks to help all citizens gain full command of the great potential available to them, sparking a societal transformation that will secure the future for a vital humanity. Drawing upon The User’s Guide to Being Human, the Work of Dr. Jean Houston and other human capacities material, we offer workshops, courses and services that support people and groups in bringing out the best of what is inherently available to them.
